Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson became the first WNBA player to win four MVP titles.

She was inducted into the University of South Carolina Athletics Hall of Fame.

Wilson holds multiple records and awards; her contract with the Aces expires in 2025.

A’ja Wilson made history with the Las Vegas Aces this past season by becoming the first player in WNBA history to win four Most Valuable Player titles. The 6-foot-4 center bagged the MVP trophy for the fourth time in six seasons behind averages of 23.4 points on 50.5% shooting, 10.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.6 steals and 2.3 blocks in 31.2 minutes per contest.

Wilson led the Aces to a 30-14 record for the No. 2 seed in the WNBA. They won the last 16 games of the regular season before defeating the Seattle Storm and the Indiana Fever in the first two rounds of the WNBA playoffs. Wilson and Co. went on to sweep the Phoenix Mercury in the WNBA Finals, 4-0, en route to their third championship in four years.

Wilson has firmly established herself as one of the most dominant players in league history. In eight seasons with the Aces, she’s been named to the All-Star team seven times, the All-Defensive team five times and the All-WNBA squad six times. Wilson won the Rookie of the Year award in 2018, the scoring title in 2024, was named the Defensive Player of the Year thrice and bagged the Finals MVP title twice.

However, even before she made all sorts of history in the WNBA, Wilson had already established herself as one of the greatest players in the history of the South Carolina Gamecocks. Before the Aces selected Wilson as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 WNBA Draft, she had already achieved legendary status with her alma mater.

As a junior, Wilson led the Gamecocks to a national championship. In her senior year, she was named, among other things, the AP Player of the Year behind averages of 22.6 points, 11.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.0 steals and 2.3 blocks.

On Thursday, Wilson returned to Columbia to receive a prestigious honor from her alma mater. This came in the form of Wilson being inducted into the University of South Carolina Athletics Hall of Fame.

The Aces took to social media to share the big news.

“University of South Carolina A’thletics Hall of Famer ☑️ That’s our M’VP! Congrats, @aja22wilson!” the team posted on Instagram.

Congratulations have poured in for Wilson, who holds the all-time scoring record for the Gamecocks with 2,389 career points.

“Congratulations M’VP 👑✨” the WNBA commented.

“Yea A!!!! You look amazing, congrats CHAMP!” a reaction read.

“Congratulations M’V4 👑💕” said another.

“Greatest female player in the game to do it congrats @aja22wilson well deserved Queen 🌹 🌹🌹🌹🔥🔥🔥🐐” declared a fan.

“congratulations A🫵🏾” another said.

“Congrats champ 🔥😍 you look so good 😍😍😍😍” a user posted.

There is no doubt that Wilson will also be inducted into the Hall of Fame once she retires from the WNBA. For now, she can bask in the glory of officially being named as one of the most impactful players in Gamecocks history.

Wilson’s two-year, $400,000 contract with the Aces expires in 2025. She will become an unrestricted free agent once the window officially opens on Feb. 1.
