Conor McGregor, the former UFC two-division champion, recently dealt with a sexual assault civil suit resulting in a payment of nearly $260,000 (pending appeal), but he may still have more legal proceedings ahead of him.
The 36-year-old McGregor is scheduled to appear in Dublin’s High Court in January to answer personal questions regarding his strained relationship with former UFC featherweight Artem Lobov, who has also been involved in legal disputes with McGregor.
Lobov is suing McGregor over the creation of Proper 12 Irish Whiskey, which contributed to McGregor becoming the wealthiest fighter in MMA. Lobov claims he came up with the idea and should be compensated accordingly.
“I told him about the potential of Irish whiskey,” Lobov stated previously. “He told me to explore options and I did. Luckily, I had connections in the industry and was able to put a deal together.”
“Once I had everything set, I presented the deal to Conor and his management team and we moved forward,” Lobov added. “I convinced him to switch from vodka to whiskey.”
“If McGregor loses this case, it could cost him around eight million,” a source revealed. “Artem feels he played a significant role in the success of McGregor’s whiskey and deserves compensation.”
McGregor sold Proper 12 in 2021 and earned approximately $600 million, but Lobov claims to have received no compensation. The outcome of their legal battle remains uncertain.
