The Creme of the County event, now in its ninth year, showcased the top high school basketball talent in San Diego County. The highlight of the day was the competitive Creme De La Creme Game, where the best players went head to head in a thrilling match. Throughout the 11 games of the day, many prospects impressed and caught the attention of scouts and spectators.
Organized by San Diego-based scout Aaron Burgin, the annual Creme of the County showcase continues to improve each year. The 2024 edition was particularly notable for its high level of talent and competitive games. The Creme De La Creme game, a highlight of the event, has consistently been a close and exciting matchup.
Burgin’s skill in selecting and organizing the teams was evident, with several games coming down to the wire during the event. The Creme De La Creme game in particular was a closely contested battle, with the white team ultimately securing a thrilling 111-107 comeback victory over the black team. Key players from the white team, Xair Mendez and J.J. Sanchez, played a pivotal role in turning the game around with their impressive performance.
The game remained tense until the last moments, with Brayden Kyman missing a crucial free throw that could have secured the win for his team. However, Louis Bond of the white team seized the opportunity and scored a go-ahead 3-pointer followed by two successful free throws, securing the victory for his team.
