Curt Miller, formerly the head coach of the Los Angeles Sparks for the last two WNBA seasons, has now been appointed as the general manager of the Dallas Wings.
Miller was relieved of his duties after his 25-55 coaching record over two seasons in Los Angeles. Prior to his time with the Sparks, he spent 7 seasons as the head coach of the Connecticut Sun and was also an assistant with the Sparks. He additionally served as the general manager in Connecticut for six seasons. Miller currently ranks 11th in regular-season wins in WNBA history with a career record of 165-141.
Dallas Wings President and CEO Greg Bibb praised Miller’s leadership skills and successful track record in an official statement. He believes Miller’s experience in building winning teams and coaching in the WNBA will be an asset to the organization as they strive for a WNBA Championship.
Miller will now shift from coaching to a front office role in Dallas.
The Wings recently parted ways with head coach Latricia Trammell and announced their intention to hire a general manager, who will lead the search for the new head coach.
Bibb explained that the decision to hire a general manager aims to strengthen the basketball operations and oversee the daily operation of the team.
Miller is among the seven head coaches who parted ways with their WNBA teams last season and is the second to join a new organization. The search for a new head coach for the Wings is now underway.
