Wang Cong set a new record in her first UFC fight at UFC Vegas 96 and is now receiving a well-deserved bonus for her outstanding performance.
The UFC veteran made a huge impact by defeating Victoria Leonardo with a knockout just 62 seconds into the fight, earning the fastest finish for a debut flyweight in UFC women’s history and the second-fastest knockout in UFC women’s flyweight division history.
Despite her impressive performance, Wang was disappointed to discover she didn’t receive a $50,000 bonus at the end of the night.
In an Instagram post, Wang expressed her disappointment and vowed to deliver even more spectacular finishes in her next fight, warning not to underestimate her.
Although White was not present at the event, he caught up on the fights and assured Wang that she would indeed receive the $50,000 bonus she rightfully earned.
White praised Wang’s performance, added another Performance of the Night bonus, and confirmed the $50,000 bonus for her outstanding effort.
This isn’t the first time White has awarded a bonus without being present at the event to determine the recipients. Fortunately for Wang, the UFC CEO recognized her exceptional performance and decided she deserved the extra $50,000.
With this victory, Wang maintains an undefeated 6-0 record in MMA and has an impressive kickboxing background, including a win over former UFC champion Valentina Shevchenko in 2015.
