The leading South Carolina Gamecocks women’s basketball team, coached by Dawn Staley, emerged victorious with a 71-57 win over the NC State Wolfpack in the Ally Tipoff. Following the game, Staley, a Hall of Famer and former standout player for the Charlotte Sting, supported Charlotte as a potential host for the Women’s Final Four and advocated for a WNBA team in the city.
