Dawn Staley and South Carolina have gotten their hands on two of the most promising recruits. First, they secured Alicia Tournebize’s signature, a French star who will join the Gamecocks this season. She is known for her 6’7 height and her ability to dunk. Staley herself confirmed this with a post on her X. She used Shaquille O’Neal’s GIF and wrote, “Yes SIX SEVEN.”
Their second recruit, Jerzy Robinson, is one of the most highly rated players from college. UConn, LSU, and many other schools were after her, but she has now committed to Dawn Staley’s South Carolina Gamecocks.
The No. 5-ranked player in the SC Next Top 100, Robinson announced that she would be joining the Gamecocks. She recently video-called Staley and the rest of the South Carolina team.
Staley screamed “Jerzy” at the top of her lungs as soon as she picked up the call. “What’s up, coach? Congratulations on the win,” Jerzy said. Staley thanked her, while Jerzy continued, “I just wanted to let you know I am ready to be a Gamecock.”
The entire locker room, along with Dawn Staley, lost it and celebrated. The head coach welcomed her with the utmost excitement, creating a chant of her name and banging the walls to make a beat, and then dancing and jumping to it.
A’ja Wilson Sends Welcome Message to Jerzy Robinson After South Carolina Commitment
Jerzy will start her college career with Dawn Staley’s Gamecocks next year, and who better than a school legend like A’ja Wilson to welcome her into the family.
Wilson sent Jerzy Robinson a sweet message along with important advice.
“Hey Jerzy, welcome to the Gamecocks family. You made the best choice. There’s no place like Columbia. If I can give you any piece of advice, I would say be on time. Set your alarms, AM, PM, whatever you need to do. But be on time. And make sure you always on time. You’ll benefit from it,” Wilson said.
“But I am so excited to watch you grow as a person and as a player and take the next step in your journey. Enjoy every moment, every minute, and before you know it, I’ll be seeing you in the big leagues. You ready? I know you are. Go Gamecocks,” she added.
