Los Angeles Sparks forward Dearica Hamby filed a lawsuit in Nevada on Monday against the WNBA and Las Vegas Aces alleging workplace discrimination and retaliation.
Hamby announced her second pregnancy in the fall of 2022 and was traded to the Sparks in January 2023. She alleges “notable” changes in how the team treated her following her pregnancy announcement.
Hamby also claims that the WNBA did not properly investigate the Aces after she came forward with her initial allegations against the team following the trade.
A WNBA investigation resulted in the Aces getting a 2025 first-round pick rescinded and Becky Hammon getting suspended for two games.
Hamby also alleges that Hammon did not deny her assertion that she was getting traded because she was pregnant.
