Denise Gomes vs. Elise Reed joins lineup

A strawweight matchup is the latest addition to UFC Fight Night 256.

Denise Gomes (10-3 MMA, 4-2 UFC) takes on Elise Reed on May 17 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas (ESPN+). Two people with knowledge of the matchup informed MMA Junkie of the matchup but asked to remain anonymous because the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.

Gomes, 25, has won four of her past five bouts. The Brazilian Dana White’s Contender Series alum is coming off back-to-back wins over Eduarda Moura and most recently Karolina Kowalkiewicz at UFC Fight Night 247 this past November.

Reed (8-4 MMA, 4-4 UFC) has alternated wins and losses since joining the UFC roster in 2021. After getting submitted by Loopy Godinez at UFC Fight Night 227, the former Cage Fury champion rebounded with a unanimous decision win over Jessica Penne this past October.
