Trinity Rodman made headlines this week for opening up about her father, Dennis, an NBA Hall of Famer.
In a recent appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast with Alex Cooper, Trinity Rodman expressed her frustration about her strained relationship with her father. She shared a story involving WNBA player Angel Reese to emphasize her point.
“I’m not disrespecting anyone,” Trinity Rodman explained. “I remember Angel Reese wearing his jersey to a game, and there was a photo of them together. He’s a well-known basketball player, admired for his style and inspiration. But as his daughter, seeing that, it made me wish it was me instead.”
Trinity Rodman, a key player on the Team USA Olympic soccer team, indicated that she does not see the NBA great as a father figure.
“He’s not a dad. Maybe by blood, but nothing else,” Trinity Rodman stated. “We attempted to live with him, but he was constantly partying, bringing in random individuals. He craves the spotlight.”
Rodman was a fascinating figure during his NBA career, excelling in rebounding and gaining attention for his behavior on the court. He played for the “Bad Boys” Detroit Pistons in the ’80s and sported dyed hair with the San Antonio Spurs in the ’90s. His collaboration with Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen on the Chicago Bulls resulted in three consecutive championships from 1996 to 1998.
Despite his basketball success, Trinity Rodman revealed that her father has been largely absent from her life. She recounted an instance where he briefly reappeared at a playoff game in 2021 but then vanished again.
“He said, ‘I want to see you soon, I’m in DC,'” Trinity Rodman recalled. “After that, complete silence. I didn’t see him again until this year. I didn’t communicate with or see him until after the World Cup.”
