A new quest in The War Within has WoW players scratching their heads because of some frustrating design choices.
Beat the abysmal spawn rates and hard mobs with our Deworming Solution quest guide below.
In WoW, some quests drive the story forward and promise huge rewards. But some missions — albeit rare — feel like a slog due to slow enemy spawn rates and “skulled” mobs. And a new world quest seems to have both problems.
In the new expansion, the ‘Deworming Solution’ quest makes you kill 12 worms in the area, which seems simple enough if finding the mobs wasn’t so complicated.
That said, there’s an unmentioned way to finish the quest faster.
How To Start the ‘Deworming Solution’ Quest
After you reach Hallowfall in The War Within, heading north of the Coreway will put you at the Ringing Deeps. Go in front of the Shadowvein Extraction Site to start the World Quest.
Defeat 12 of the following worm types to complete the quest:
Deeps Larva
Deeps Spitter
The seemingly quick quest rewards 12,200 EXP and 200 reputation with the Dragonscale Expedition faction.
It’s worth noting that several accounts report a bug that spawns level 80 worms, making Deworming Solution potentially dangerous for low-level alts. Between this and the apparent slow respawn rate, many are questioning the quest’s design.
“Why does Blizzard never learn about this kind of bull^&*!”, a fan bemoaned.
We’ll have to wait for Blizzard to patch out any potential glitches in this quest. But beyond that, there’s actually a quick and easy way to spawn worms in the quest.
Deworming Solution WoW Quest Tips
To make a worm mob spawn, stand on their burrows! Upon accepting ‘Deworming Solution’, small moving dust clouds will appear on the ground around Shadowvein Extraction Site. Stand on these to spawn a worm!
If you’re grinding achievements and want to finish ‘Deworming Solution’ as fast as possible, bring your group/s. Doing this creates a “hyperspawn”, triggering more mobs for more players and giving you a safe space in case a level 80 Shai-Hulud ever pops up.
Big drops for your professions can be found all over Azeroth, and zones like the Ringing Deeps are great spots to farm valuable materials for food buffs and other necessities. Some like Leatherworking let you craft and sell for big profits, and a big farming spot for it can be found just next door.
Final Thoughts
It seems strange for a world quest to leave out such an important piece of instruction. While it did encourage fans to collaborate, having two spawn instances for the Deeps Larva and Deeps Spitter just makes things more puzzling.
We’re still waiting on the World of Warcraft dev team for a possible fix to some of the bugs (and maybe some QoL changes to the burrow spawn size), so check back in for any updates to the Deworming Solution quest!
