Diamond Sports Group, the nation’s largest owner of regional sports networks (RSNs), will be introducing single-game pricing for NBA and NHL games starting next month. The company announced on Tuesday that this new option will be available on its direct-to-consumer streaming package beginning on December 5.
Viewers can purchase single NBA and NHL games for $6.99 with no subscription required
Fans will now have the choice to buy individual games for $6.99. Additionally, viewers can opt for monthly or season pass subscriptions, although a subscription is not necessary for single-game purchases. Diamond Sports Group owns 16 RSNs and has the broadcasting rights for 13 NBA teams and eight NHL teams.
Among the NBA teams are the Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Hornets, Cleveland Cavaliers, Detroit Pistons, Indiana Pacers, Los Angeles Clippers, Memphis Grizzlies, Miami Heat, Milwaukee Bucks, Minnesota Timberwolves, Oklahoma City Thunder, Orlando Magic, and San Antonio Spurs.
The eight NHL teams include the Carolina Hurricanes, Columbus Blue Jackets, Detroit Red Wings, Los Angeles Kings, Minnesota Wild, Nashville Predators, St. Louis Blues, and Tampa Bay Lightning.
Following FanDuel’s naming rights agreement last month, TV stations owned by Diamond are now referred to as FanDuel Sports Network. Diamond Sports Group had previously partnered with Bally Sports since March 2021.
Diamond Sports Group has been undergoing Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings in the Southern District of Texas since March 2023
“The introduction of single-game pricing gives fans the opportunity to watch their local NBA and NHL teams on a game-by-game basis, adding flexibility to our offerings,” stated FanDuel Sports Network CEO and direct-to-consumer Michael Schneider.
“This is another example of our commitment to providing various viewing options and features to make it convenient for viewers to support their favorite teams.”
A final hearing on Diamond’s bankruptcy reorganization plan is set for Thursday, with the company aiming to emerge from federal bankruptcy court by the end of the year.
Having filed for protection in March 2023, Diamond Sports has been in Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings in Texas. In a financial report last year, the company declared a debt of $8.67 billion.
Diamond Sports Group LLC is an independently managed and unconsolidated subsidiary of Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. Diamond RSNs produce approximately 5,000 live local professional telecasts annually.
