PHOENIX – Less than a week ago, Diana Taurasi said goodbye to the Phoenix Mercury and WNBA fans when she announced her retirement from her playing career. The undisputed goat hangs up her sneakers with 11 All-Star bids and a three-time WNBA champion. The 42-year-old leaves a legacy of winning, not just with the Mercury, but with Team USA and in college at UCONN.

A special teammate by her side during those times was fellow WNBA legend Sue Bird. The duo have combined for five Olympic gold medals and three NCAA national championships. However, maybe their greatest team-up is on ESPN with the “Bird & Taurasi show,” which has been renewed for the 2025 NCAA women’s basketball tournament.

The show debuted on ESPN in 2022 as an alternative broadcast for the Final Four matchups. The show was a massive success with fans as the hilarious banter between the two teammates and insightful in-game analysis made the broadcast a must-watch.

Taurasi and Bird will reunite for the fourth straight year to call the NCAAW Final Four in Tampa. The 2009 WNBA MVP might’ve said goodbye to her playing career but could be starting a lengthy broadcasting career with her extensive and profound perspective of the game. Regardless if she pursues a future broadcasting career, the fourth edition of the “Bird & Taurasi show” will be a treat for basketball fans.
