HOPEWELL, N.J. — Drake senior point guard Katie Dinnebier has once again been recognized nationally, earning a spot on the 2025 Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Watch List, as announced on Wednesday by Her Hoop Stats.
Dinnebier, the reigning Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year, has previously been named to the Mid-Major Player of the Year Watch List in both the 2024 preseason and mid-season editions. She was also a semifinalist and finalist for the previous season’s award.
A graduate of Waukee High School, Dinnebier became the ninth player in Drake history to win the Jackie Stiles MVC Player of the Year award last season. She was also named to the All-Missouri Valley Conference first team and the All-Defensive Team. Dinnebier was honored with MVC Scholar-Athlete second team recognition and received the Patty Viverito MVC Tournament Most Outstanding Player award. She was a finalist for the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year award. Leading Drake with 18.1 points, 6.9 assists, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.4 steals per game, Dinnebier surpassed 1,000 career points as a junior and currently has 1,333. She ranks 10th all-time with a .370 career three-point percentage, second all-time with a .856 career free throw percentage, fourth all-time with 548 career assists, becoming the seventh player in program history to reach 500+ assists, and she has cracked the top 10 on the all-time steals list with 188.
This year’s watch list features representatives from 22 teams and 15 conferences. Three teams — Fairfield, Norfolk State, and South Dakota State — have two players each on the watch list, and three conferences — the AAC, MAAC, and Summit League — have three players each named on the preseason list.
