Profar was visibly upset, leading to a discussion between Padres players, manager Mike Shildt, umpires, and security. The situation escalated as fans continued to throw items onto the field, resulting in a significant delay.

Dodger Stadium security personnel positioned themselves around the field to prevent fans from storming onto the field. The situation worsened as fans continued to throw objects towards right field, where Fernando Tatis Jr. was stationed.
Following a delay of over 10 minutes after the top of the seventh inning, play resumed between the Dodgers and Padres.
Tensions were high throughout the game, starting in the first inning when Profar prevented Mookie Betts from hitting a home run and then taunted the Dodger Stadium fans in left field.
