Former Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Caleb Ferguson has been traded from the New York Yankees to the Houston Astros. YES Network’s Jack Curry was first to report the news.
The Yankees will receive a minor leaguer and international pool money.
The lefty reliever was not as successful in his first season in New York, with a 1-3 record, 5.13 ERA, 41 strikeouts, and a 1.50 WHIP in 33.1 innings and 42 appearances. He now moves to Houston to try to regain his form.
During his time with the Dodgers, Ferguson was consistent and performed well. He had an 18-9 record with a 3.43 ERA, 3.78 FIP, and a 1.28 WHIP in 207.1 innings pitched and 201 appearances. The 28-year-old was drafted by the Dodgers in the 38th round of the 2014 MLB Draft and made his debut in 2018.
Ferguson was traded from L.A. to New York in early February in exchange for Matt Gage and Christian Zazueta. Throughout his career, he has maintained a 3.66 ERA and 288 strikeouts in 243 games.
