The Miami Dolphins have made changes to their linebacking group by signing Tyrel Dodson from the Seattle Seahawks. David Long Jr. was waived after not playing for two weeks.
Long, known for his strong run defense and tackling, struggled to maintain his performance in 2024. His last game with the Dolphins was in Week 8 against the Arizona Cardinals, where he missed four tackles and allowed eight receptions for 93 yards.
Long had multiple missed tackles in six of his eight starts this season. Anthony Walker Jr. has taken over his role and has performed well alongside Jordyn Brooks.
The Dolphins claimed tight end Jack Stoll from the Philadelphia Eagles after waiving Long. Stoll, an undrafted free agent in 2021, has played in 17 games over the last two seasons.
Stoll has played in seven games this season, making two catches for 10 yards. He is also noted for his blocking skills, having blocked on 156 of 201 snaps without allowing a sack.
Stoll replaces Tanner Conner, who is on injured reserve, in the tight end group with Jonnu Smith, Julian Hill, and Durham Smythe.
