Donald Cerrone, a former UFC star, has reentered the promotion’s drug testing pool, hinting at a possible return to the octagon. The 41-year-old fighter, known as “Cowboy,” retired in July 2022 and could make a comeback in 2025.
Although Cerrone previously teased his return, it was only confirmed when he entered testing with the Combat Sports Anti-Doping (CSAD), the UFC’s anti-doping body.
UFC President Dana White has expressed his displeasure with Cerrone’s decision to come back, stating his concerns about the fighter’s well-being.
With 48 fights under his belt in the WEC and UFC, Cerrone aims to reach the milestone of 50 fights despite not having secured a victory since May 2019. He made the announcement about his return on The Pacman Jones Show.
Speaking on his plans, Cerrone stated, “I just re-entered the testing pool, so I have to be six months clean. Probably June or July we’ll make the comeback. I’m coming back for two more. Just two more. I want 50 fights [under the] UFC [umbrella].”
Additionally, he mentioned that he promised his wife two more fights regardless of the outcome and hinted that his return might be in the middleweight division.
