DoorDash, the local commerce platform, the National Basketball Association (NBA), and Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) have announced a multiyear partnership renewal that extends DoorDash’s role as the official on-demand delivery platform partner of the NBA and WNBA. The partnership began in 2020, making DoorDash the first-ever partner in the on-demand category.
DashPass, DoorDash’s membership program, will now serve as the official partner of NBA and WNBA Experiences, offering a variety of customized and immersive fan experiences at major events throughout the NBA and WNBA calendar year. These premium experiential packages include access to NBA and WNBA events as well as unique off-the-court programming like player and legend meet-and-greets, behind-the-scenes tours, concerts, and hospitality hubs designed to engage global fans of the game.
To kick off the NBA season, DoorDash teamed up with Kurtis Blow to give a modern twist to the 80s classic “Basketball”. Originally released in 1984 as a tribute to the sport’s energy and cultural influence, this updated version features shoutouts to today’s basketball stars, with Brooklyn rapper Lola Brooke joining Blow in a verse dedicated to WNBA stars. The new music video, shot by Dave Meyers and Cassidy Meyers on the streets of New York, includes Knicks players Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart, along with legendary WNBA player Sue Bird.
