A visual bug temporarily caused a common Dota 2 cosmetic item to appear identical to a rare 2024 Treasure of the Crimson Witness. This bug, which occurred on Sep. 12 and was fixed on Sep. 13, transformed Luna’s weapon cosmetic, the Golden Twilight Schism, into the Twilight Schism of the Crimson Witness.
The bug only affected the inventory of players and the Steam Community Market. Consequently, prices for the Golden Twilight Schism doubled from $0.30 USD to around $0.60 USD.
An authentic Treasure of the Crimson Witness cosmetic typically sells for $150+ USD, with unopened containers often listed for thousands of dollars. The bug was swiftly fixed, but not before causing a surge in market prices. Unfortunately, the item did not have the same effect in-game, so those who purchased it did not receive the benefits of the Crimson Witness item.
The Twilight Schism of the Crimson Witness is an exclusive item that drops only from witnessing a First Blood kill at The International. The containers for The International 2024’s (TI13) Crimson Witness were recently added to the game, likely causing the bug.
