Time’s up: TI is back! Dota 2’s The International 2024 is the pinnacle event in the Dota competitive calendar. The undisputed top 16 teams in the world converge in Denmark for the next two weeks, battling it out to become the 14th team to lift the Aegis of Champions.
The Aegis has belonged to Team Spirit for two of the last three years, however, the Russian squad has been unable to continue their dominant TI run after a shock upset in Copenhagen, leaving eight teams to claim victory (and the lion’s share of the crowdfunded prize pool) during the finals weekend in the Royal Arena starting Sept. 13.
Here’s everything you need to know about Dota 2’s TI 2024.

Dota 2 TI 2024 format and teams
This year’s edition of Dota 2 TI is split into three main sections. The group stage and seeding deciders will determine the order the top 16 teams play out the main event bracket. The Road to The International consists of the first two sections as well as the opening matches of the playoff bracket, while The International sees just the top eight finish the main bracket.
Group stage Teams are sorted into four groups of four and will play out a best-of-two round-robin format. All teams will qualify for the next stage. Seeding Deciders The top team from Group A will pick an opponent running either third or fourth in Group B; then, they’ll play a best-of-three to determine who begins the main event in the upper bracket. This is repeated across each group (Group B winner vs. Group A 3rd/4th, Group A 2nd vs. remaining Group B 3rd/4th, Group C winner vs. Group D 3rd/4th, etc.). The winners of the Bo3s begin in the upper bracket of the main event; all losers begin in the lower bracket. Main Event Double-elimination bracket; all matches Bo3. The top eight through the upper and lower brackets play into The International. The grand final is a best-of-five.
Here are the teams that qualified for TI 2024 and how they got there.
