Draymond Green is now just two techs away from getting suspended in the playoffs, after picking up a technical during a dead-ball situation in a 117–93 win Game 2 loss against the Timberwolves.
The tech happened when Green flailed his arms after getting fouled by Naz Reid.
Reid fell, the play went to review, and officials ended up calling a personal foul on Reid and a tech on Green. Lead ref Tony Brothers said Green’s contact was unnecessary and that he was trying to sell the foul a little too hard.

He didn’t speak at the postgame podium, but he did make a statement in the locker room that made it pretty clear he feels singled out by the league and the refs.
“I’m sick of the agenda to make me look like the angry Black man. I’m not an angry Black man,” Green said. “I’m a very successful, educated Black man with a great family. And I’m great at basketball, I’m great at what I do. The agenda to try to keep making me look like an angry Black man is crazy. I’m sick of it. It’s ridiculous.”
After that, he walked out of the locker room.
Draymond didn’t hide his frustration with the call at the time.
His teammate Steph Curry, who’s still out injured, came down the sideline to try and settle him down.
Coach Steve Kerr eventually pulled Green from the game, which was probably a smart move, since one more tech could’ve gotten him tossed.
Kerr thinks Draymond won’t push his luck too much next game.
“He’s going to have to be careful,” Kerr said. “He’s going to have to stay composed and I’m confident he will because he knows the consequences.”
That was Green’s fifth tech in just nine playoff games. He’ll get hit with a one-game suspension if he racks up seven. On top of that, he’s also got two flagrant fouls so far. If that gets to four, it’s another automatic suspension.
