Dubai Police to host multi-title esports event

Dubai Police has announced details surrounding the fifth edition of the Dubai Police Esports Tournament.

The multi-title event will take place from August 14th to 17th at the Dubai Police Officers Club in Al Jaddaf.

The tournament is aimed to reflect the city’s commitment to raising the awareness of the digital and technology industries, while aligning with its strategy to educate gamers about the risks of potential cybercrime and ‘balanced gaming practices.’

In addition, hosting the event is a part of the Dubai Sports Council‘s strategy to organise and operate events that appeal to young people residing in the city.

According to the release, ‘over 1,500 players from various nationalities’ will compete in Dubai Police Esports Tournament across six titles—Counter-Strike 2, VALORANT, Dota 2, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, EA Sports FC 25, and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.

Eligible for people aged between ten and 35, the event will feature a 200,000 AED (~£40,465) prize pool split across each title. Alongside the esports competitions, it will also host a Hackathon and a game jam.

Over the past 12 months, Dubai has continued to increase its presence within the esports industry. This year, the city will also host the Global Esports Games, an event organised by the Global Esports Federation.

In April, it hosted the Dubai Esports and Games Festival, which featured regional competitions and education initiatives.

The Middle East has become a hotbed of activity for the esports industry, with the likes of Dubai and Saudi Arabia looking to expand their presence within the wider industry.

Throughout 2025, the Saudi Esports Federation has continued to build infrastructure within the Kingdom. In April, it opened the SEF Arena to host regional tournaments alongside events that form part of the Esports World Cup.
