Dwyane Wade makes his feelings clear on Angel Reese & Caitlin Clark’s ‘disrespect’ from controversial pod

NBA legend Dwyane Wade has made it clear that he doesn’t appreciate the recent negative comments directed at the WNBA and its players. In an excerpt from his “The Why” podcast shared on Wednesday, the three-time NBA champion addressed the controversies surrounding the WNBA in recent weeks.

Wade pointed out that the WNBA is showcasing something different compared to the NBA: their players, or at least most of them, are united.

“One thing we can’t get in the NBA is togetherness. What the WNBA is showing, they’re showing togetherness in a time when it’s all about pulling them apart because they’re becoming the next thing.

After lauding players for sticking up for the competition and inspiring young kids to follow their dreams, Dwyane Wade went straight at people criticizing the league, telling them to be quiet if they don’t like the product.

“Man, quit all that tearing the WNBA down, y’all. Like, come on now! Y’all got nieces, you got daughters, you got people who have dreams and they want to see themselves and want to see people that look like them play the sport that we all love, and so, tearing the league down because it’s something that you can’t do or something that may not fancy you. That’s not cool, just don’t watch it,” he finished.

This comes after Jeff Teague and his “Club 520” podcast made the rounds for the wrong reasons. First, comedian Charleston White said Angel Reese should dunk a basketball while wearing only panties. That situation even made a former NCAA player call out Dwyane Wade over the behavior of some of his peers.

At the same time, Teague said the worst NBA player would beat A’ja Wilson, the reigning unanimous WNBA MVP.

Dwyane Wade has been one of the biggest WNBA advocates in recent years, more so after buying a stake in the Chicago Sky. The Miami Heat icon even sees similarities between the Caitlin Clark-Angel Reese rivalry to Magic Johnson-Larry Bird.

During an appearance in Reese’s podcast in October, Wade said that the race factor made a lot of people see some resemblances between the two rivalries (Timestamp: 14:33).

Wade added that Reese and Clark are different players who impact the game in different ways. He’s seen the evolution of Reese firsthand, attending some of her games in 2024. If there was somebody who could raise his voice against the negative comments, that was Wade.
