The GIST: The Edmonton Oilers have managed to turn the tide in the Stanley Cup Final, now trailing the Florida Panthers 3-2 and forcing a Game 6 back in Alberta.
Captain Connor McDavid was the star of the show, scoring two goals and assisting on two more to bring his postseason points total to 42, making him the third player to reach at least 40 points.
Although the Panthers fought back after being down 3-0 in the second period, they couldn’t quite complete the comeback, with Matthew Tkachuk scoring a goal but ultimately falling short.
As the series moves back to Edmonton for Game 6, the Oilers will be aiming to replicate the historic comeback of the 1942 Toronto Maple Leafs, who managed to win the Stanley Cup after being down 3-0. The game is set for Friday at 8 p.m. ET.
