Elliot Giles has set a new World Mile Road record of 3:51.3 in Dusseldorf, as reported by World Athletics.
During the New Balance KO Meile in Dusseldorf, Britain’s Elliot Giles secured the top spot in the men’s race, breaking the world record with a time of 3:51.3*
Despite facing a tough challenge from USA’s Olympic 1500m bronze medalist Yared Nuguse, who finished in second place with a time of 3:51.9.
Both athletes surpassed the ratified world record set by Hobbs Kessler at the 2023 World Road Running Championships in Riga. They also improved upon the mark of 3:54.6 – pending ratification – achieved earlier this year by Emmanuel Wanyonyi.
Vincent Keter crossed the finish line in third place with a time of 3:54.9.
