Leicestershire Netball Development Officer (NDO) Megan Sayers has collaborated with local partners to launch a new eight-week NETBALLHer pilot program that offers women menopause education, followed by a Walking Netball session.
Supported by Active Together, Active Women (Leicester City in the Community), and Leicestershire County Netball Association, Megan’s vision has not only been realized but is bringing positive change for women in Leicester.
At Highfields Community Centre in inner-city Leicester, a group of 20 women gathers weekly on Mondays to explore various menopause-related topics, creating a space for connection, sharing experiences, and asking questions.
The shared joy among the women, many of whom have a South Asian background, has grown as they have built trust and support while discussing topics like breast health, hormone changes, and mental health challenges during menopause. This program aims to enhance understanding, eliminate stigma, and empower women to discuss menopause topics confidently when needed.

Sadi, who has attended each week, shared the relevance of this opportunity, stating, “This is a fantastically good space to come, to equip oneself with knowledge specific to my health, particularly regarding perimenopause, which I didn’t know much about. It’s embarrassing to realize how little we actually know about ourselves.”
