England Netball | Vitality Rose Imogen Allison signs for Queensland Firebirds

Making her debut for the Yorkshire Jets in 2015, the West Yorkshire born athlete then moved to Team Bath in 2016 while studying for a degree in Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Bath.

Allison became a stalwart for the South West side, where she stayed for an impressive eight seasons, honing her craft and helping Team Bath to reach their first NSL Grand Final since 2013, in the 2021 season.

Allison was named Bath’s Player of the year in 2021, later captaining the side’s 2021 British Fast5 team to victory and becoming the NSL club’s captain for the 2022 season.

At Team Bath, Allison was able to play alongside the likes of Vitality Roses legend Serena Kersten (nee Guthrie), who Allison credits as helping her shape her into the player she is today.

“When I was growing up, Serena Guthrie was a role model of mine. It’s been so good getting to know and playing with her!”

In the 2024 season Allison was one of the biggest talks of the NSL signing window, making the move north to join Manchester Thunder. Success on the court has come in the form of a real standout season which falls off the back of a game-changing 2023 Netball World Cup performance, helping the Vitality Roses to a historic silver medal.

This season, Allison picked up three Experience Kissimmee Player of the Match awards – including in the semi-finals. Named in the All Star VII at WD, she also claimed the runner-up spot for centre.

Head Coach of Manchester Thunder, Karen Greig said: “Whilst Imo only spent a season with us, she made a huge impact on our club both on and off the court and I want to say a big thank you to her for the full commitment she gave us.

“Whilst only having worked for a short period of time as her coach, Imo grew as a player and really fitted into the Thunder way and brand of playing.

“I’m proud that we have been a part of her journey to reaching her ambition of playing in the SSN and wish her all the luck in the world at her new club, Firebirds, who are very lucky to gain her signature and I’m sure she will thrive in Australia and I’m looking forward to watching and supporting her next season.”
