CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Fighting Illini head coach Shauna Green has welcomed Nick Erickson to the Illinois women’s basketball staff as a graduate assistant. Erickson has been involved with the program as a practice player and manager for the past two seasons.
“I’m thrilled to have Nick continue with our program as a graduate assistant,” said Green. “He has been a crucial part of our team as a manager for the last two years. His dedication to Illinois and understanding of our system make this transition seamless. Nick’s strong work ethic, collegiate basketball experience, and ability to build relationships will contribute to the improvement of our players daily. I’m excited to have him in this new role!”
“I am incredibly excited to remain at the University of Illinois and continue my work with Coach Green and the women’s basketball program,” shared Erickson. “Illinois has always been my home, and the opportunity to learn from exceptional coaches is truly one of a kind. I am grateful for this chance from Coach Green and ready to start. I-L-L!”
A 2024 graduate of the University of Illinois, Erickson is from Gilberts, Illinois, and holds a bachelor’s degree in financial planning and services. He is currently pursuing a master’s in management.
During his time as a practice player and manager with the team, Erickson traveled to away games and assisted with video coordination in addition to serving on the scout team.
After a successful high school career at Hampshire High School, Erickson played one season of Division I basketball at Jacksonville University before transferring to Illinois. During his time at Jacksonville, he also represented the men’s basketball team on the student-athlete advisory committee and made the Dean’s List both semesters.
In high school, Erickson was a two-time selection to the Fox Valley All-Area Team and a two-time All-Conference honoree. He served as the varsity team captain in his junior and senior years and made the honor roll both seasons.
