Last year’s WNBA Draft was a landmark moment for the league, as stars like Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese and Cameron Brink were welcomed into the best women’s basketball league in the world.
Clark, Reese, Brink and others helped make the 2024 season the biggest in league history, and there are massive expectations for what’s to come for the WNBA in 2025 and beyond.
The season will begin in earnest with the 2025 WNBA Draft in April, and there’s a clear demand for tickets. The event, which is set to be held in New York City, is sold out when it comes to individual tickets.
Fans reacted to the news on Thursday, and they pointed to one player in particular as the catalyst for the ticket sales.
“The beginning of The Paige effect,” one fan said, referencing UConn star and potential top overall pick Paige Bueckers.
“There will only be four legit superstars in the WNBA next season. 1. Caitlin Clark 2. Angel Reese 3. Paige 4. Sabrina,” another fan predicted.
“BRO???THEYRE $1000 HOW ARE PPL AFFORDING THIS,” one fan wondered, as they examined the remaining ticket options, which include special hospitality and experience choices.
“That was quick,” another fan said, pointing out how quickly tickets for the draft sold out.
Bueckers is currently focused on the NCAA Tournament with UConn, as the Huskies look to win their first national title since 2016. Bueckers has been to the Final Four three times in her career, and to the national championship game once.
The star guard can finish her college career with a title and move on to the WNBA for the 2025 season, where she’s one of the options for the No. 1 overall pick.
