The unveiling of the second of three planned statues featuring Kobe Bryant will take place in a private ceremony on Friday outside of Crypto.com Arena, as reported by ESPN.
This statue will honor Bryant’s daughter, Gianna “Gigi” Bryant, who tragically passed away with her father in a helicopter crash in January 2020.
The first statue of Bryant, revealed on February 8, showcases him during his memorable 81-point game against the Toronto Raptors in 2006.
Today’s statue reveal falls on a significant date, 8/2/24, which holds symbolic meaning for both of Bryant’s jersey numbers, as well as Gigi’s.
In a similar fashion, the first statue unveiling occurred on 2/8/24.
The third statue, to feature Bryant in his No. 24 Lakers uniform, is anticipated to be unveiled during the upcoming season, according to Vanessa Bryant and ESPN.
