Ex-Chicago Sky Player Throws ‘Skill’ Shade at Angel Reese While Claiming $215,000 Forward Is Superior 1v1 Talent

Former Chicago Sky player Kysre Gondrezick has seen how her former teammate, Angel Reese, has grown since joining the WNBA in 2024. However, she believed Satou Sabally, the $215,000 forward from the Phoenix Mercury, remained fundamentally superior to her in one-on-one battle.

In a Q and A in the 7 p.m. in Brooklyn podcast with Carmelo Anthony, Gondrezick chose Sabally over Reese as she thinks the Mercury star is more polished now than Reese.

“I’m not going to lie, respectfully, I’m going to say Angel because she was a former teammate of mine,” she said. “But, for the matchups, Satou, because she is a little bit more fundamentally sound as Angel is starting to grow that in her game now. Angel is a powerhouse.”

“Her motor doesn’t run out, but I think (Satou) is just a little bit more skilled,” she added.

Gondrezick played 24 WNBA games, five of which were with the Sky in 2024, where she averaged 1.0 points per game.

Meanwhile, Reese is coming off her second season in the league, averaging 14.7 points, 12.6 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game. However, she again fell short in steering the Sky to the playoffs, only winning 10 games to finish the 2025 season tied with the worst record.

On the other hand, Sabally averaged 16.3 points and 5.9 rebounds last season, helping the Mercury reach the WNBA Finals but lost to the eventual champions Las Vegas Aces.

Kysre Gondrezick says she is building a new brand after posing for Playboy

Kysre Gondrezick took pride as the first professional basketball player to pose for Playboy magazine as their 2025 Miss June. Talking to Playboy, she believed she is building a multi-dimensional brand as a basketball player and a model.

“What people label as a transition, I embody as evolution. I’m not stepping outside who I am. I’m building a multidimensional brand,” she said.

Gondrezick added that it is through hard work that she made it to the WNBA. However, she admitted that it was harder to stay in the league than to go there.

“Becoming a WNBA player and getting to that level, you put in a lot of work to get there,” the former Sky guard said. “You have to put in even more work to stay there.”

Aside from the Sky, Gondrezick also played for the Indiana Fever in the WNBA.

While she considers herself still an active player, Gondrezick remains without a team.
