Welcome to Saturday’s edition of the RaceFans round-up.
F1 bets big on long-term race promoters (Financial Times)
F1 director of race promotion Louise Young: ‘It has been mooted that there will be rotation in the future, perhaps some rationalisation about our presence in Europe. We hope to add perhaps one more destination in Asia. There are a number of prospects in Africa; we hope to find a partner who can be that long-term stable presence. Although growth in the US market remains F1’s main priority, it has no current plans to add races there.’
IndyCar 2028: The hybrid system (Racer)
‘IndyCar also has a goal of doubling peak ERS power to 120hp. ‘Now, because of the enhanced capabilities of these newer ESS, you could go up in both from where we’re at now,’ (IndyCar’s senior vice-president of competition and operations) Sibla said.’
Karting champion Maisy, 16, aims for F1 top spot (BBC)
‘Maisy Creed, 16, took the prestigious PF International X30 Junior Champion title in November, becoming the first ever female driver to do so. The title was previously won by future stars such as Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button and Lando Norris, and Maisy said she was determined to win a place in the renowned F1 Academy so she could follow a similar path.’
Agenda: How to win at life, the Button way (Car)
‘Off-camera I found him exactly like his public persona – always courteous, often smiling, a sense of humour breaking through a guarded, media-savvy shell. I remember talking to him about the Porsche Carrera GT road car he’d just bought, fulfilling that racy, playboy image – an image that nearly sunk him in his early years.’
