Former F1 driver Johnny Herbert has likened Max Verstappen’s racing mentality to that of icons such as Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost, and Michael Schumacher, praising the Dutchman’s ability to intimidate rivals through sheer confidence and precision.

Speaking on the Stay on Track podcast alongside Damon Hill, Herbert highlighted Verstappen’s bold move on Lewis Hamilton at the Mexico City Grand Prix, calling it “brilliant” and perfectly on the limit. He noted that Verstappen’s willingness to engage in hard, uncompromising battles reflects the mindset of the sport’s greatest champions.

Herbert emphasized that Verstappen’s psychological edge is as significant as his speed, describing how the Red Bull driver “intimidates people” much like Senna and Schumacher once did.

That combination of aggression, control, and fearlessness, Herbert argued, is what separates Verstappen from the rest, a defining trait of champions who not only race to win but make rivals think twice before challenging them.
