Ferrari has reached an agreement with General Motors and TWG Global to provide power units and gearboxes to the Cadillac Formula 1 Team starting in 2026.
If the American team receives confirmation from the FIA and F1 that its entry has been accepted and approved, this partnership will move forward – a mere formality now that Michael Andretti is no longer in the picture.
Fred Vasseur commented, “It’s exciting to see another American team committing to Formula 1 with the support of a highly respected brand in the automotive industry, especially as the sport gains popularity in the United States. We are pleased to supply the team with our power unit and gearbox as part of this technical collaboration, which will keep Ferrari involved with two customer teams in the championship and bring benefits in terms of technical development.”
“We are excited to collaborate with Ferrari as the power unit and gearbox supplier for our Cadillac team, uniting two extraordinary legacies,” said team principal Graeme Lowdon. “Choosing the right power unit partner is crucial, and we have confidence in Ferrari’s passion, excellence, and the exceptional capabilities of their team.” It is expected that Cadillac/GM will begin producing their own engines from 2028, pending the mentioned terms and conditions.
