With Caitlin Clark’s first WNBA season in the books, the Indiana Fever are looking ahead to a bright future, hoping for many more postseason appearances and possibly even a league championship one day.
Clark, recently named the WNBA Rookie of the Year, made history in her debut season, setting numerous records that may endure for a long time. She is expected to be a key player for the Fever for years to come, but changes in the supporting lineup could happen as early as the upcoming free agency period.
Fever president Kelly Krauskopf discussed the team’s approach to the upcoming free agency period in a recent media session, highlighting how Clark’s skill and talent could attract players from across the WNBA.
“I would think that if you are a smart basketball player and you watch the way [Clark] plays, you would want to play with her,” Krauskopf stated, emphasizing Clark’s ability to elevate her teammates’ performance on the court.
Clark, along with several other Fever starters, logged significant minutes during the regular season, indicating the team’s need for additional depth in the roster. The Fever will likely prioritize re-signing Kelsey Mitchell, Clark’s backcourt partner, and acquiring a power forward during the upcoming free agency period in February.
