With the 2024 WNBA regular season coming to a close in just a few weeks, let’s look back at opening day – or at least a similar matchup.
The Fever will be hosting the Sun for their final game of the season. The teams first met on opening day, where Caitlin Clark made her debut with 20 points. However, the Sun emerged victorious in all three previous encounters. The Fever now have one last opportunity to secure a win.
Connecticut is already looking towards the postseason, leading the WNBA standings post-Olympic break. With the addition of Marina Mabrey, they are likely to maintain their top position in the final month of the season.
Indiana, on the other hand, is on the bubble. They need to be in the top eight by the end of the regular season, currently sitting just inside the cutoff. Qualifying for the playoffs for the first time since 2016 will require flawless performances going forward.
