Fewer girls signing up for high school basketball in Iowa, some schools forced to cut teams


DES MOINES, Iowa (KCCI) – Despite the rise of Iowa basketball star Caitlin Clark, there has not been an increase in the number of girls trying out for basketball.

The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union has reported a decrease in female participation in high school basketball over the past five years.

Marcus McIntosh, from our affiliate KCCI, explains that some schools are now forced to eliminate basketball teams due to the lack of players.
