Following a series of departures from the FIA, the governing body has announced two new key appointments to their team.
Alberto Villarreal has been named General Manager, while Alessandra Malhame will serve as Senior HR Director.
These appointments come in the wake of several high-profile exits, including director of communications Luke Skipper, secretary general of mobility Jacob Bangsgaard, governance and regulatory director Pierre Ketterer, head of commercial legal affairs Edward Floydd, CEO Natalie Robyn, sporting director Steve Nielsen, single-seater technical director Tim Goss, and head of Women in Motorsport Commission Deborah Mayer.
According to a press release from the FIA, these appointments represent a shift towards stronger governance, financial performance, and people strategies for long-term success.
Villarreal will report directly to the FIA President and the President of the Senate, overseeing the organization’s operations and finances. With 28 years of automotive experience, including leadership roles at Goodyear, Villarreal is poised to lead complex projects in competitive environments.
Malhame, with over two decades of HR leadership experience at companies like Honeywell and Bristol Myers Squibb, will focus on shaping HR strategies and workplace culture at the FIA.
FIA President Mohammed ben Sulayem expressed confidence in the new appointments, stating that Villarreal will drive financial sustainability and operational excellence, while Malhame will enhance the organization’s human capital.
