Only two spots were left in the upcoming round of the 2024-25 EuroLeague Women competition, with four teams vying for them. Perfumerias Avenida and DVTK HUN-Therm competed directly in Group A, while Polkowice and Villeneuve-d’Ascq LM faced teams that had already secured their spots in Group C. In the end, Avenida and Polkowice advanced, setting up Groups E and F for the start of the second round on Dec. 11.
On the final day of the first round, some standout performances were delivered by these players:
Morgan Green, the former UC Irvine standout, had a stellar game, scoring 21 points (72 percent shooting), grabbing three rebounds, and dishing out five assists to help Tango Bourges Basket defeat Žabiny Brno 85-65.
Bridget Carleton led with 18 points for UNI Győr in their last game of the competition, while Stephanie Mavunga contributed 12 points and nine rebounds in Valencia’s victory over Győr.
Emma Cannon was the top performer for Polkowice, scoring 23 points in a loss to Fenerbahçe. Despite the loss, Polkowice advanced to the next round, largely thanks to Cannon’s impressive stats this season.
Helena Pueyo had a notable game for Zaragoza, recording 18 points, six rebounds, and seven steals in their win over Villeneuve d’Ascq LM. The defensive pressure from Zaragoza resulted in 18 turnovers for the French team.
