Swish Appeal is excited to share this interview with India Pagán. Hailing from New London, CT, she is a basketball legend who was recognized as the city’s best player of the 2010s. Pagán, a two-time Olympian with the Puerto Rico National Team, played for Stony Brook Seawolves for five years before moving to Germany and Czechia. Currently based in Puerto Rico, we had the opportunity to chat with her a day before her flight.
During our conversation, we delved into her high school and college experiences, her underrated passing ability, shot selection, love for spices, and, of course, her Olympic journey. Here are some highlights:
Reflecting on the opening game against Serbia:
Pagán expressed her thoughts on the team’s performance, stating, “I wish we could have just started off the way we ended…we probably would have won all the games.” She acknowledged the nervousness felt by many players, especially those experiencing their first Olympics.
Highlighting her underrated passing skills:
Known for her passing abilities, Pagán takes pride in setting up her teammates for success. She emphasized the joy she gets from making a well-executed pass and the strong connection she shares with her fellow players.
Special thanks to Thomas Prodromou of Flash Agency for facilitating the interview.
