3×3 basketball makes a comeback at the Summer Olympics in 2024 following a successful debut in 2021. The competition will feature eight countries, with the United States and China leading the pack as the top teams.
Scheduled from July 30 to August 5, the tournament will highlight top basketball talent in the world playing in the unique 3×3 format. Key differences between 3×3 and traditional 5×5 basketball include point values for baskets, game duration, and court size.
The first five days will see all teams compete in a round-robin format, known as the “pool round.” Afterward, the top-ranked teams will progress to the tournament semifinals, while the bottom teams will be eliminated.
On August 5, the semifinals will decide the medal contenders, with the bronze and gold medal games taking place later that day.
