CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – A home-and-home series between the Illinois women’s basketball team and the Florida State Seminoles has been finalized, with the first game set to kick off the 2024-25 season for the Illini.
Illinois will welcome Florida State to State Farm Center on Thursday, Nov. 7. The return leg in Tallahassee is scheduled for the 2025-26 season.
The 2024 clash will be the third meeting in the history of the two teams. Their most recent encounter was in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge during the 2021-22 season. FSU currently leads the series with a 2-0 record, dating back to their first match in 1990.
Under the guidance of Head Coach Brooke Wyckoff, Florida State boasted a 23-11 record last season, with a 12-6 mark in ACC play. The Seminoles reached the ACC Tournament semifinals and also made it to the NCAA Tournament.
After clinching the inaugural WBIT championship last season and finishing with a 19-15 record, the Fighting Illini are set for another exciting season. The team returns four starters from last year, accounting for over 81% of minutes played and nearly 85% of scoring.
