CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The nonconference schedule for the upcoming 2024-25 season has been unveiled under the leadership of Shauna Green at Illinois. The schedule includes nine home games, with three of them against in-state teams.
In addition to the previously mentioned Music City Classic, the Fighting Illini will play a true away game at Canisius – the alma mater of coach Green.
The season will start with an exhibition against Lewis on Friday, Nov. 1, at State Farm Center. The following Thursday will see Florida State visiting, followed by a Sunday showdown with Marquette on Nov. 10. The rest of the homestand includes games against Eastern Illinois (Nov. 14), Le Moyne (Nov. 18), and Oregon State (Nov. 22).
Illinois will then travel to Nashville for two games in the Music City Classic, facing Maryland Eastern Shore on Nov. 26 and Kentucky on Nov. 27.
December will kick off with a game at Canisius on Dec. 2, where coach Green will face her alma mater for the second season in a row.
The nonconference schedule will wrap up with three consecutive home games against Bradley (Dec. 12), Southern Indiana (Dec. 15), and Southern (Dec. 20).
Key players to watch during the nonconference slate include Fighting Illini sophomores Cori Allen and Gretchen Dolan, who will be playing in their hometowns of Nashville and Buffalo, respectively.
The full Big Ten schedule will be released later, with matchups announced in May. Home games include Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Northwestern, Penn State, Purdue, Washington, and Oregon, while away games feature Indiana, Maryland, Minnesota, Northwestern, Ohio State, Rutgers, Wisconsin, UCLA, USC, with a home and away matchup against Northwestern.
Season tickets for the 2024-25 season are now available for the Fighting Illini women’s basketball team. With a record of 24-8 at home in the last two seasons under coach Shauna Green, including wins against top-15 ranked teams, the team looks to continue its success in the upcoming season.
With 41 wins in two years, a WBIT championship in 2024, and strong attendance numbers, the Illinois women’s basketball team is poised for another successful season. Returning key players from last season, including starters and a large percentage of minutes played and scoring, the team is looking to build on its success.
