SEATTLE – Cearah Parchment and Berry Wallace both registered 20-point games as Illinois took down No. 25 Washington, 75-66, on the road Sunday.

Leading by as many as 14 against the ranked Huskies, Illinois ultimately led for the final 27 minutes en route to its second ranked victory of the season and the eighth such triumph under fourth-year head coach Shauna Green.

The Fighting Illini (16-6, 6-5) had four players score in double figures, led by Parchment, who recorded her seventh double-double of the season with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Wallace added 22 points and seven rebounds, while Maddie Webber chipped in with 13 points from the bench. Destiny Jackson added 11 points, six rebounds, four assists, and two blocks of her own.

Illinois grabbed 33 rebounds in Sunday’s game compared to Washington’s 24, led by Parchment’s 10 boards. The Fighting Illini also cleaned up the offensive glass, turning 14 rebounds into 26 second-chance points.

The Illini’s pesky defense forced 16 Washington turnovers while converting those takeaways into 17 points on the other end of the floor. Parchment’s four steals led the way for Illinois, while Aaliyah Guyton finished with a career-high three steals.

How It Happened

Trailing 16-15 after one period of play, Illinois chipped away at that deficit and built a 24-23 lead before going on an 8-0 run, highlighted by a bucket from Parchment, to take a 32-23 advantage. The Huskies cut into that edge, but the Fighting Illini still enjoyed a 37-29 advantage heading into halftime. Illinois established its presence on the offensive glass across the opening two quarters, scoring 16 of its 37 first-half points on second-chance opportunities.

Illinois continued to preserve its halftime lead before going on an 8-0 run, punctuated by a basket from Webber, to further add to its lead, 49-35, with 1:25 to go in the third. Before the conclusion of the period, the Huskies had cut into that lead somewhat, but the Fighting Illini still entered the fourth quarter with a 51-40 edge. Illinois played well near the basket, scoring 12 of its 14 points in the paint.

The Fighting Illini then maintained their double-digit lead for a majority of the final frame, closing out the ranked victory at the free throw line.

Illinois will remain in the Pacific Northwest to face Oregon on Wednesday night away from home. Tipoff between the Illini and the Ducks is set for 8 p.m. CT on B1G+.
