FISSURE Universe: Teams to Watch Out for – DOTABUFF

Fissure Universe is not the first tournament on the new patch, but it is probably going to be the first one where the meta is somewhat settled. By now most teams are probably aware of the most broken stuff in the game and it is going to be much harder to cheese a victory from a stronger opponent. That means better teams should win more consistently and reliably, so today we are going to have a quick look at the state of the professional scene and which teams might be underrated.

Despite not participating in PGL Wallachia, Parivision did get a chance to play on the new patch during Dream League Season 25. Ultimately falling to the tournament’s champion, they nonetheless managed to get 3rd in the tournament and even won the second group stage with only a single game lost to the BetBoom team.

It is worth noting that DL Season 25 was an online tournament, similar to FISSURE Universe. We feel like for now it is an important variable to consider when evaluating Satanic’s potential performance. This 17-year old prodigy is a beast, but we’ve seen him be slightly less impressive in LAN environments.

Overall, we feel like Parivision is definitely set up for success in this tournament. Between other notable teams potentially feeling exhaustion from the last couple of tournaments and considering the overall level of raw talent on the team, they are definitely in the discussion for a top3 placement.

Another PGL Wallachia absentee, one that didn’t look as hot during the second Group Stage of DL Season 25. It looked like the team got a bit rattled by the new patch and failed to adapt quickly. With over a month of preparation, though, they should be in top form for the upcoming tournaments.

Their top form is nothing to scoff at — they are definitely one of the contenders for the podium placement. Throughout most of the last year they’ve been top3 in all the tournaments they’ve participated in, and even won the first Blast Slam.

This tournament is going to be the proving grounds for the team. Can they reclaim their rightful place as a Tier S team, or will they fail to adapt? Our bet is on the former — it is very hard to argue against some of the names on the team’s roster.

Watching Aurora grow is exciting. The return of Mira to the professional scene is already making waves, and we are also starting to slowly appreciate TORONTOTOKYO offlane play. Don’t get us wrong — there is still a lot of growing to do, but the important part is that the team looks better and better with every game.

New patch is also helpful in that regard. The roster was signed shortly after the Wandering Waters update, so the team is developing together, without potentially harmful preconceptions.

A top6 result in Wallachia for a newly formed roster is already impressive, but we feel like the team can do even better. A top4 result is definitely not out of the question, though the competition is going to be tougher than it was in the previous tournament.

This is the busiest period in Dota since forever and there is a constant stream of interesting tournaments. Under such conditions the meta and the game develop at an incredible pace and yesterday’s favorites can quickly find themselves overtaken by hungrier teams.
