Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark made a strong impression in her debut season in the WNBA. Known for her sharpshooting from beyond the arc, she averaged 3.1 3-pointers per game as a rookie.
Not only did Clark help the Fever improve their record from the previous season’s dismal 13-27 to a more respectable 20-20 in the 2024 regular season, but she also led them to a playoff appearance.
Despite claims from Washington Mystics co-owner Sheila Johnson attributing Clark’s success to her race and media attention, community notes revealed that over 30 percent of the Mystics’ home attendance last season came from the two games against Clark’s Fever, which amused former NBA player Andrew Bogut.

Despite the hype around Clark, Johnson’s Mystics failed to make the playoffs last season, finishing with a 14-26 record, the fourth-worst in the league.
Interestingly, the Mystics struggled at home, with a 5-15 record, worse than their 9-11 road record. In two meetings with the Fever, the Mystics split games, with Clark impressing in both matchups.
In the first game, Clark scored 30 points in a two-point victory for the Fever. In the second game, the Mystics prevailed by one point, thanks to a standout performance from Sika Kone.
