Former Arsenal forward Lina Hurtig has joined Italian Serie A Femminile eBay club ACF Fiorentina on free transfer.
Viola announced news of the transfer via a post on their official club website this morning.
The 29-year-old Swedish international forward joins Fiorentina upon the expiry of her contract at former club Arsenal. Hurtig has signed a three-year deal at Rocco B, Commisso Viola Park.
Hurtig has spent the last three seasons with Arsenal after joining the club from Italian side Juventus. The forward made 37 appearances for The Gunners in all competitions in which she scored seven goals. In her time at Arsenal, Hurtig helped The Gunners to win two Subway Women’s League Cups while her final appearance for the club saw her lift the UEFA Women’s Champions League trophy in Lisbon. The player would arguably have made a greater impact for the team if not for some niggling injuries.
With Hurtig’s Arsenal departure having been announced last month, you always felt that her next move may see her return to familiar surroundings. The player is returning to the Italian game, three years on from enjoying a successful spell with Fiorentina’s Serie A Femminile eBay rivals Juventus.
Hurtig is the first of Arsenal’s out of contract players to find a new club this summer.
