Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky will miss the WNBA playoffs for a second straight season, falling to 9-30 with three games remaining in the regular season. Last year, the Sky were in the hunt for a postseason spot at the All-Star break, but due to a late-season collapse, they fell to 13-27 and missed out entirely.

Chennedy Carter was an important piece for Chicago during the 2024 season. Averaging a team-leading 17.5 points and 3.1 assists per game, Carter nearly found herself on her first All-Star team. However, the Sky elected not to extend her qualifying offer, leaving her without a team for the entire 2025 WNBA season.

Reese and the Sky could have used Carter’s scoring this season as they rank last in the WNBA at 75.8 points per game. And Reese has made it clear she has seen enough, saying she is willing to leave Chicago if things don’t change.

“I’m not settling for the same (expletive) we did this year,” Reese told the Chicago Tribune. “We have to get good players. We have to get great players. That’s a non-negotiable for me… I’d like to be here for my career, but if things don’t pan out, obviously I might have to move in a different direction and do what’s best for me.”

Following Reese’s request, a WNBA fan pointed out that the Sky have been willing to part ways with stars over the years. The list of players included:

Carter noticed her name wasn’t included in the list and reminded fans that Chicago moved on from her as well.

“i think you’re forgetting someone 😏,” Carter wrote on X.

While Carter didn’t play in the WNBA this year, she did find success in Mexico’s Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional Feminil. Playing for the Adelitas de Chihuahua this Summer, Carter led her team to a regular-season title after averaging 15.8 points and 3.7 assists per game, but fell short in the playoffs.

Meanwhile, Reese and the Sky will be back in action on Wednesday to host Marina Mabrey and the Connecticut Sun.
