SEATTLE (WISH) — Former Indiana Fever guard Erica Wheeler has a new team for the upcoming WNBA season.
On Wednesday, the Seattle Storm announced that it has signed the veteran guard.
“Erica’s capacity to create plays and facilitate points is a huge add for our team,” Storm Head Coach Noelle Quinn said in the news release. “She brings a strong dedication to the game and is an incredible teammate. We’re looking forward to Erica joining us in Seattle.”
Wheeler played the last two seasons with the Fever. She also played for Indiana for four seasons from 2016-19.
In fact, Wheeler was named the 2019 WNBA All-Star Game MVP while she played for the Fever.
She joins a Storm team that advanced to the playoffs last season before falling in the first round to the Las Vegas Aces.
“Seattle is one of the most prestigious franchises in the league, and I couldn’t be more proud to share the court with players like Nneka, Alysha, Skylar, and Gabby. I can’t wait to get to work,” Wheeler said in the news release.
Last season, Wheeler played in 39 games for the Fever. She started in two of those games. She averaged 14 minutes of playing time per game during the regular season, while scoring 3.6 points per game.
Wheeler will face her former team three times this upcoming season. The Fever and Storm will play in Seattle on June 24 and Aug. 3. They will also play each other inside Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Aug. 26.
